Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon powder
  • 300-450 ml boiled water a mugful
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup optional

Instructions

  • Begin by boiling your water in an electric kettle or kettle or pot on the stove.
  • Add the cinnamon powder to a reusable tea bag or small cheesecloth tied with an elastic band or twine. Don't use an infuser as the ground cinnamon will seep through.
  • When your water is boiling, pour it over the tea bag in a mug.
  • Allow it to steep for 5 minutes.
  • Sweeten if desired and enjoy!

Notes

  • Strength to your taste: Adjust the amount of cinnamon or steeping time to get the strength just right for your palate. You can add an extra teaspoon of ground cinnamon if desired.
  • Keep it smooth: A fine mesh filter or cheesecloth works best to keep the grounds out of your tea. You can find reusable and disposable tea bags easily online.
  • Heat matters: Make sure your water is really boiling (not just simmering) to extract the full flavor of the cinnamon.
  • Mix it up: Feel free to add a splash of milk or a cinnamon stick to your cup for extra flair and flavor.

Storage instructions

  • Cool: Let your hot cinnamon tea reach room temperature before storing.
  • Refrigerate: Pour the tea into a glass jar or an airtight container and keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  • Reheat or enjoy cold: Warm it up on the stove or in the microwave when you're ready for a warm cup, or drink it cold for a brisk refresher.
  • Freeze for later: Freeze the tea in ice cube trays for an easy way to cool down drinks or for a quick single serving of tea to reheat and enjoy anytime.
