Craving something warm and spicy? This easy Cinnamon Tea recipe uses just ground cinnamon powder to brew a comforting cup that’s good for you and sweet on your taste buds. Perfect for soothing sore throats or warming up on cold days, it’s a mugful of goodness!
Begin by boiling your water in an electric kettle or kettle or pot on the stove.
Add the cinnamon powder to a reusable tea bag or small cheesecloth tied with an elastic band or twine. Don't use an infuser as the ground cinnamon will seep through.
When your water is boiling, pour it over the tea bag in a mug.
Allow it to steep for 5 minutes.
Sweeten if desired and enjoy!
Notes
Strength to your taste: Adjust the amount of cinnamon or steeping time to get the strength just right for your palate. You can add an extra teaspoon of ground cinnamon if desired.
Keep it smooth: A fine mesh filter or cheesecloth works best to keep the grounds out of your tea. You can find reusable and disposable tea bags easily online.
Heat matters: Make sure your water is really boiling (not just simmering) to extract the full flavor of the cinnamon.
Mix it up: Feel free to add a splash of milk or a cinnamon stick to your cup for extra flair and flavor.
Storage instructions
Cool: Let your hot cinnamon tea reach room temperature before storing.
Refrigerate: Pour the tea into a glass jar or an airtight container and keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Reheat or enjoy cold: Warm it up on the stove or in the microwave when you're ready for a warm cup, or drink it cold for a brisk refresher.
Freeze for later: Freeze the tea in ice cube trays for an easy way to cool down drinks or for a quick single serving of tea to reheat and enjoy anytime.
